The sticks. Offer one at a time and stay in the room. Keep water nearby, because hard cheese makes dogs thirsty. Take the stick away once it is small enough to swallow whole.

The puffs. Hand them out as rewards or as an everyday snack. No hard chewing needed, so they suit older dogs and small mouths.

How often. Two or three stick sessions a week suits most small dogs. Puffs can be daily in small amounts.

Both are calorie dense. Count them in your dog's daily food rather than on top of it, and cut back their meal a little on chew days.

Soak it in water for about thirty seconds, microwave it for forty-five, and the moisture inside expands into a light crunchy puff. Let it cool completely before serving, it comes out hot.

Store in a cool, dry place. No refrigeration, and no need to reseal the bag.
